DIY MAGNETS

I've always had a magnet-less fridge ever since I left my parents house. No pizza places dropped any off and friends always brought back shot glasses from their vacations instead. So in my newest apartment, I decided to make my fridge pretty. For once.

I came across this app called Printstagram. You log into your Instagram account through this app, and it accesses all your instagram and camera roll pictures. You can crop, resize, and frame to your hearts content, before the company prints them into tiny squares and mails them your way for about $20. Once I received my miniatures (they were so cute!) I actually didn't know what I wanted to do with them at first. Since they were all pictures of my roommates and I, this made sense.

What you'll need:
- scissors
- your prints
- magnetic tape

cut small strips of the tape and peeled off the white lining

I placed a strip, sticky side down, on the back of every print

I thought they looked best in neat little rows, but feel free to position them however you'd like!

THANK YOU NOTES

It took me a long time to understand why my mother always made me write thank-you notes. I would moan and groan and put it off until she'd just about kill me. Recently, she threw me a graduation party and I decided to do something extra special to make up for all the half assed attempts in my earlier years. There's something so nice about personal stationery, and I wanted to make sure this time around it didn't suck. I got blank cards, paint, a heart shaped hole puncher and a cute little owl stamp and went to work.

WALL ART WHALE

One of my favorite things to DIY are puzzle-like decorations. I have been seeing a lot of wall art that involves one picture being spread out in a bunch of smaller frames, making it easy to make your own decorations on a larger scale. I found this first picture and made my own to hang in my bathroom. All I needed was canvas and paint!

My version!

PHOTO CLIP

I came across this cute little set while online shopping at urbanoutfitters.com. I thought about buying it, then put it on the back burner and now I just ended up DIY'ing it.  All I have to say is that I'm sorry, Urban, I still love you and all...I'd just rather spend my money on shoes.

What you'll need:
- scissors
- black paper of your desired thickness
- black embroidery thread
- black paper clips
- glue gun

I studied the bird outlines and drew them freehand on the paper in pencil.
If you have no faith in your drawing ability, a stencil can be googled.

I then glued the paperclips to the back of each bird (note my messy freehand attempt!)

They each looked like this from the front.

I used thumbtacks and tied one to each end of the thread to hang it up.

Then I gave it to my mom cause she wanted it. She's the babe on the right.

DIY DREAM CATCHER

When I was growing up, my father always kept dream catchers around the house. I had this one that hung above my bed, and I would go to sleep every night hoping that it would catch all my nightmares so I'd never have to see them. Recently, I have been seeing them more and more on blogs and in retail, so I thought it would be a fun project to DIY! Here's some inspiration.

For this project, I found everything I used at AC Moore. Their selection wasn't all the great, so order some awesome beads and feathers offline if you have time.
You will need:
1. Glue Gun
2. Suede Lacing
3. Needlepoint Hoop
4. Feathers
5. Beads
6. Embroidery thread

Wrap the embroidery hoop in any color thread of your choice, securing ends with glue.

Using the embroidery thread, tie a loop around what will be the top of the dreamcatcher so that it can be easily hung.

The next step is creating the web inside the hoop. I found some great instructions on how to do this,  here
It's a lot easier than it looks, and I secured it in the end by tying the string around a bead.

Take your suede lacing and loop three doubled pieces of string around the frame at an equal distance.
I made the middle one shorter.

Some feathers may come with a hoop in the end for easy attachment, however, a glue gun works great to glue the suede and feathers together.
Add beads in any way you'd like before finishing with the feathers.
Tip: Be careful to buy beads with larger holes if you are threading the suede lacing through them.

Done!
